Siruthai Siva wrote and directed Annaatthe (aka) Annatha, a Tamil action drama film. Rajinikanth, Keerthi Suresh, and Nayantara appear in the film, which also has Meena and Khushbu Sundar in supporting parts. Sun Pictures produced the film, which was directed by Kalanidhi Maran. D. Imman composed the soundtrack. Vetri Palanisamy and Ruben were in charge of cinematography and editing, respectively.

Annaatthe, , the film will be released on the eve of Diwali on November 4, 2021.

Development

After the release of Darbar (2020), media reports claimed that Rajinikanth would work with director Siva, but this was later confirmed by Kalanithi Maran on 11 October 2019, whose production house Sun Pictures is financing the project, tentatively titled Thalaivar as it will be Rajinikanth's 168th film project. Despite reports that composer D. Imman, who previously collaborated with the director on Viswasam (2019), would score the film, his inclusion was confirmed by the producer in mid-November. The film's title has been rumoured to be Viyugam and Mannavan, however the team has disputed the rumours. The title of the film, Annaatthe, was revealed on February 24, 2020.

The film's cinematographer, editor, art director, and stunt choreographer were believed to be Siva's normal technical staff, Vetri, Ruben, Milan, and Dilip Subbarayan, who worked in the director's previous films, with the exception of Subbarayan, who worked with Siva just in Viswasam. Rajinikanth had written a few jokes for his film. Initially, Rajinikanth was said to have been offered 108 crore for the film, but Kalanithi Maran insisted on a pay cut following the failure of Darbar, and was willing to abandon the project if Rajinikanth refused. Rajinikanth has consented to decrease his income to 58 crore, including GST, after much debate.
